Minhauzens 2012

Beginning of August each year is a special time for Latvian hunters because one week before the duck hunting season opening the festival Minhauzens takes place, each year in a different part of the country.

A weekend-long festival including shooting competitions (clay, slug, rifle and airgun for juniors), different team competitions, educational contests, junior competitions and the fun of togetherness with the Latvian hunting community. Also this year, August 3rd will be the day when hunters from allover the country will meet in Rencēni to spend an exciting weekend and celebrate the 14th hunters festival Minhauzens -- named after the famous hunter and liar Münchhausen who has spent some part of his life in territory of Latvia.

Among the shooting competitions slug shooting is one of the most interesting. 5 shots have to be made from a hunting smoothbore gun in 30 seconds on a standing target in 50 m distance. Also D Dupleks steel slug ammunition is often used here to achieve the best results.
